When I am choosing new country to travel for business, I am trying to choose hotel which have pool or small gym or at least nearly located public gym with one day pass. 1-2 hour swimming or exercises helping me to stay tuned (especially when difference between timezones are more then 4-5 hours). Overcoming jet lag during 3-5 day business trip is not so easy and sport is helpful to get your energy back.
Sport is really useful not only for healthy life, but during business travels, too. Golf is good for business networking, tennis is good for team and trust building with person who might be your possible partner, gym is good to learn about new city from locals and pool is good for chill and relax.
During my trips or daily life I also play ping-pong, experiencing horse riding, playing basketball and even squash, weightlifting, running, biking, hiking, boxing and playing football. BTW; chess is also good sport to network with intellectuals and to train brain (which I’m doing 40 years, already).
During my travels sometimes I am taking with me very lightweight tools for basic fitness exercises (even for golf). I may take with me ping pong racket, intensive training mask (air flow can be adjusted and in small room during travel and high efficiency can be achieved), executive set with foldable putter for golf indoor training, handgrips, jump rope, prescription goggles, tennis ball, in some cases foam roller, resistance band, grips, etc.
when I go to the gym, I’m trying really hard (in pictures 200kg/440lb. barbell training, 527kg/1161lb. of leg press), staying at gym 4-6 hours (mostly walking in treadmill while doing some business calls, readings, planing, scheduling or watching video) or using dumbbells and exercising at home while watching industry related videos, conferences or talks.
In any cases, active lifestyle is good to stay healthy, sober, focused. Sport is good when I want to clean my mind and get positive energy. Here are some pictures;
