I used to read lots of books when I was young, starting from 8 years old I am reading, reading and reading till now, thousands of books, books which used to help and still helping me to learn and think differently. Most of books helping me to think out of box and see world from different angle (which is must skill for any innovator), and good examples of such books are Little Prince, books of Jules Verne, sketches of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Today, most writers who are able to somehow guess future, are screenwriters of sci-fi movies or TV Series and, if in the past most writers used to just have a muse or guess future and write books, nowadays, most writers working really hard to write a book, they are doing lots of researches, learning patents, talking to scientists, learning failed scientific experiments and possible future technologies to be able to write really interesting and scientifically possible and trustworthy scenarios. It is amazing to hear fundamental scientific terminologies in movies which are science fiction and nothing more, but sometimes they are true and possible (for example; years ago Hollywood used to talk about Quantum Computers in their movies, but in real life only now such computers are possible). This is amazing process which is able to have global impact and drive innovation and progress.
Hollywood used to be source of inspiration for me not only because of great music, but because of their movies and TV Series, and I am sure, I am not alone (and maybe that is why tech giants actively sponsoring TV Series of Hollywood or making their own).
Let me list couple of TV Series which I used to watch during long travels, boring days, wonderful evenings or joyful weekends and get inspiration.
As a representative of Innovation industry, Business and Finance I prefer TV Series like “Super Pumped: The Battle For Uber”, Silicon Valley, Startup, WeCrashed, The Offer, Billions, Lucifer, Suits, Mad Man, Successors, Better Call Soul, but maybe only great Science Fiction TV Series and movies may inspire to invent new progressive future and some of them I will list below;
Start Wars, Star Track, Flash, Devs, The 4400, Upload, Foundation, The Umbrella Academy, Severance, The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Man Who Fell to Earth, For All Mankind, The X-files, The 100, Altered Carbon, Lost In Space, Person of Interest, Foundation, See, Space 1999, Invasion, Sens8, Another Life, Under the Dome, The Expanse, Westworld, Travelers, Continuum, Fringe, Snowpiercer and many others by Netflix, Google, HBO, Warner Bros, Apple and others.
In any cases Hollywood is innovating, buying innovation and inspiring; sometimes via music, or great movies and TV series or shows, but they have something to show and they know how to surprise, always, and it will be good idea (at lest for entrepreneurs and innovators) sometimes to relax and get inspiration form amazing film industry.
P.S. I will even recommend Startups, co-working spaces, startup incubators and accelerators to have special hours to watch such movies and TV series. It will open workers mind. Hollywood used to drive innovation and we should take it into account.
