Intellectual work and data theft pose a significant threat to the future of humanity, and here’s why.
Consider a person who has spent years, along with considerable resources and effort, studying in school, college, and university to become an expert, professional, or scientist in a specific field. After years of hard work, this person invents something crucial for human progress. However, before they can reap any benefits from it, they lose it due to intellectual work or information theft (something which is happening before registering Intellectual Property).
At first glance, this might not seem dangerous, but it is. Those who steal the work are unable to improve upon it, and the original creators may not have enough resources to invent something new. This is why we don’t see many groundbreaking inventions. We’re not traveling at the speed of light; we have slow cars and smartphones that are harmful to our health. We still face issues like hunger, lack of water in rural areas, climate problems, and polluted oceans.
As someone active in the innovation industry, I’ve seen many tech companies unable to create a second version of their product or improve its security. This is often because they are not the original owners of the idea; they’ve stolen it from someone who may not even realize that their invention is the foundation of a successful startup.
This process could lead humanity towards global stagnation and a scientific crisis that we may not be able to resolve. While I could provide more details and facts, I believe this is a problem that should be discussed in most institutions and organizations. It’s a disaster that humanity must address as a priority. Solving this issue could lead to solutions for all other problems, as those who are truly clever will have the resources to make the world a better place
